ONE PAINTING: "HAMASASYE"
Artist Statement: This hand gesture symbolises the elegance of the swan, used in the traditional Bharatanatyam dance that originated in Tamil Nadu, India. Malaysian Indians have managed to carry on the legacy of this ancient art form to this day, despite the marginalisation many of them frequently face in society. To me, Hamasasye symbolises the grace of a swan, an animal that carries itself with pride regardless of the situations they face, much like the Indian community in Malaysia.

As an intersectional feminist, she cares deeply about the importance of representation, especially for minority groups, such as Malaysian Indians. Her aim is to create more art that represents the everyday Malaysian Indian woman and hopes her art is a source of empowerment for these women.
